Robert Stockbridge

    Robert E. Stockbridge Sr., 72, of RR 3, Meshoppen, died Wednesday at the
Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre.
   
Born Sept. 13, 1930, in Wellesley, Mass., he was a son of the late Wallace
and Pearl (Williams) Stockbridge. He was a 1949 graduate of Wellesley High
School and was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was employed as a
maintenance supervisor for Union Camp Corp., Newtown, Conn., and was sexton of
the Trinity Episcopal Church, Newtown. He was a member of the Retta United
Methodist Church.
   
He was preceded in death by brother, Wallace; sister, Penny Haigh.
   
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, the former Barbara L. MacKinnon; son,
Robert E. Jr., Southington, Conn.; daughters, Holly Healey, Middlebury, Conn.;
Robin Johnson, Tunkhannock; Lynne Ertl, Newtown, Conn.; 10 grandchildren; a
great-granddaughter; sisters, Jean Mathews, Cape Coral, Fla.; Ruth Tolar,
Millis, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.
   
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday from the Retta United Methodist
Church, with the Rev. Nancy Russell and Rev. Larry Russell officiating.
Interment will be in the Retta Cemetery, with graveside military services
conducted by the members of Rought Hall Post 510 American Legion and Endless
Mountains Post 3583 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
   
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Sheldon Funeral Home, Main
Street, Meshoppen.
   
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Guthrie Hospice,
RR 1, Box 154, Towanda, PA.
