Speaking of The Earthly Angels, the world’s first Autism Day was noted on April 2.
According to information provided by Ron D’Eliseo, autism affects an estimated 1 in 150 births. Every 20 minutes a child is diagnosed with autism. As many as 1.5 million Americans today are believed to have some form of autism.
The Earthly Angels Autism Fund of the Luzerne Foundation was created in 2001, in honor of Ron and Brenda D’Eliseo’s son Robert, who is autistic. Since the fund’s inception the Earthly Angels have donated nearly $100,000 to non-profit organizations who provide services for autistic children or their families.
The D’Eliseos are to be commended for turning the challenges of having an autistic child into something so positive.
