PACE LAPS – Pole sitter Tony Stewart drops to the rear of the field prior to the start of the race. There will be a competition caution at lap 20 to check tires.

LAP 12 – Stewart is up to 29th, but pits because of a flat tire eight laps before competition caution.

LAP 16 – Tony Raines is the first off the track, which is surprising since start-and-park regulars Dave Blaney and Joe Nemechek are in the field. Mike Wallace is black flagged and heads to the garage.

LAP 20 – Competition caution with Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon and Denny Hamlin running one-two-three.

LAP 43 – Hamlin has a two-second lead over Johnson. The start-and-park twins – Blaney and Nemechek – called it quits a while back. The duo now has totaled 32 DNFs in 35 races combined.

LAP 54 – Caution because Paul Menard loses his right rear tire.

LAP 57 – After pit stops, the race resumes with Hamlin out front followed by Johnson, Gordon and Kasey Kahne. Stewart, the June winner, is 30th.

LAP 63 – Third caution – for all things – because a caution light broke and fell on the track.

LAP 67 – What do teams do when they drop out? Leave. David Gillliland’s hauler is heading to the highway.

LAP 85 – Mundane racing with Hamlin dominating and leading second-place Johnson by 3.3 seconds.

LAP 96 – Caution for a spin by Bobby Labonte. Nearly everyone heads to the pits.

LAP 104 – Restart with Kahne, who didn’t pit, in the lead. Hamlin is ninth; Stewart seventh because how green-flag pit stops cycled around.

LAP 110 – Johnson is dealing with engine issues and falls a lap down and into 36th place.

LAP 138 – Hamlin passes Kahne for the lead. It’s the first lead change on the track.

LAP 141 – Caution for David Ragan’s brush with the wall. Pit stops for most. Johnson’s crew changes the carburetor.

LAP 147 – Mark Martin leads when the race resumes. He, Brian Vickers, Jeff Burton and Sam Hornish Jr. did pit under caution.

LAP 149 – Caution. Robby Gordon spins in turn three.

LAP 153 – Kurt Busch passes Mark Martin in turn one for the lead.

LAP 157 – Robby Gordon wasn’t happy with David Stremme after his first wreck and tries to give him the “chrome horn.” Stremme, though, gets the best of the dual and spins Gordon. Both are held for five laps.

LAP 165 – Caution for debris with Kurt Busch leading and Carl Edwards second.

LAP 170 – Restart with Clint Bowyer leading and Scott Speed second because of varying pit strategy involving tires.

LAP 174 – Hamlin spins out David Reutimann entering the front stretch. Reutimann then runs into Marcos Ambrose to bring out another caution.

LAP 179 – Restart with Bowyer still in front.

LAP 180 – Big crash in turn 1 as Ragan spins Labonte. Ragan continues on, but Joey Logano, Reed Sorsenson, Elliott Sadler and Michael Waltrip aren’t as lucky.

LAP 187 – Restart with Bowyer in front. Hamlin makes a move on Juan Pablo Montoya for second place.

LAP 190 – Hamlin passes Bowyer for the lead with Montoya close behind.

LAP 200 – Hamlin wins, keeping a decent distance between himself and Montoya over the final laps.
