Don’t give up hope yet. So this hasn’t been the best summer we’ve ever seen. The rain and overall cloudy skies don’t scream pool time, but we still have some summer left in us. And this means you should still go out and get that new summer bathing suit you’ve been holding off on purchasing.
I know what you’re thinking. You haven’t seen much of the sun, so you gave up getting your body ready for string bikini season, but who says string bikinis are the only sexy bathing suits on the market? Just because you’re not holding your goods in with tiny pieces of material and a few pathetic pieces of string doesn’t mean you’re destined to hide in muumuus or oversize T-shirts. The right full piece is just as sexy — in many cases, more so.
Marilyn Monroe sported some of the sexiest bathing suits known to woman, and she wasn’t spotted in a string bikini. Keeping herself covered and, might I say, looking very conservative, Marilyn wore many full pieces, none of them making her look less appealing. OK, so we all can’t be Marilyn Monroe, but we can look sophisticated as well as sexy in a full piece bathing suit. The hottest in stores now? The strapless bandeau is a classic you should consider.
Check out the Alberto Vargas pin-up girls made famous in the early 1940s. Many of the illustrations show beautiful women in a full piece strapless bathing suit. This style has been around for 60 years and its end is nowhere in sight. Embrace this style and try on a strapless full piece for the first time. Whether you’re voluptuous or completely flat-chested, a strapless bathing suit can be worn on both body types. Keeping it in place for both body types all depends upon the type of material. For busty bodies, a strapless suit with wire cups and a decent amount of Lycra to hold everything up is the way to go. For flatter women, wire cups may not be necessary, and a basic bandeau will work just fine.
Seen here are a bunch of vintage styles that would look incredibly hip this summer. One modern day version, as seen on the Victoria’s Secret model, shows that the style of suit, although slightly adapted in some cases, still maintains the overall strapless full piece look. Whether you choose an authentic vintage piece or decide to buy brand new, if you commit to the full piece, you’ll feel a sense of sophistication which is often very difficult to do at the beach or while loafing poolside.
Although there are many colorful and loud prints to select, I suggest going basic for your first pin-up style full piece suit. A big fan of the Hollywood glam look, I experienced my first strapless full piece bathing suit in June when I opted for the basic black and felt like a Hollywood starlet the second I put it on. I was hooked.
Get shopping online or visit your local Macy’s, which is where I found mine. Go vintage, go new, just go cover yourself up in a classy full piece bathing suit this year. Let the starlet in you out.
