Jean L. (Snyder) Gashlin Stengle, 79, a resident of The Laurels in Old Forge and formerly of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Sunday morning, Aug. 2, at her residence.
Born in Newark, N.J., on August 30,1929, she was a daughter of the late Harold and Hazel Snyder.
Jean resided in Irvington, N.J., before moving to Wilkes-Barre 30 years ago. Before her retirement in 2007, she was employed as a bookkeeper/secretary in Wilkes-Barre.
She was also preceded in death by her brother, Harold (Snitz) Snyder.
She is survived by her two daughters, Sue Hunt and her husband, Barry, of Toms River, N.J.; and Doreen Guenther, of Kenilworth, N.J. Also survived by three sisters, Shirley Kesselman, of Tinton Falls, N.J.; Joan Pasqarosa, of Tuckerton, N.J.; and Norma Hermanson, of Mountainside, N.J. Jean had four grandchildren, John Stecher III, Michael Stecher, Kelly Iadarola and her husband, Mike, and Lindsey Hunt; and one beautiful great-grandchild, Madeline Iadarola.
Jean had a kind and generous heart, but will remain in ours forever.
Arrangements are private under the care of the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home Inc., 517 N. Main St., Old Forge.
