BEAR CREEK TWP. – The 2009 paving project in the township is nearing completion, the board of supervisors said Monday night.
Contractor Slusser Bros. has finished patchwork on three roads in the White Haven Pocono Development, where the supervisors met. The roads are Hillcrest, Shades Glen and Old Ford.
Road shoulder work to finish the $260,000 project was to be completed Tuesday.
Township Roadmaster Ruth Ann Koval is attempting to contact the state Department of Transportation to receive federal money to repair and pave Weiss Road.
“It needs more than patchwork,” said Koval.
In other business, Koval made a motion to purchase a new Caterpillar backhoe for $58,097.
The backhoe will be received by the end of this week.
Also, it was announced the Bear Creek/Buck Township Lions Club will host its third annual pig roast from noon to 5 p.m. Sept. 13 at the recreation field pavilion located behind the township municipal building. Entertainment will be provided by the local band, Danny Argo & Friends.
The event is open to the public and tickets are $18 per person.
