Holtz thinking about run for Congress
Former Notre Dame football coach Lou Holtz is mulling a run for Congress in Florida as a Republican, a GOP strategist said Tuesday.
Holtz could decide in the next several weeks whether to seek the central Florida congressional seat held by Democrat U.S. Rep. Suzanne Kosmas, said the strategist who requested anonymity because he is not authorized to talk about the matter.
The 72-year-old Holtz has never run for office. He has worked as an analyst at ESPN since retiring from his last coaching stint at the University of South Carolina at the end of the 2004 season.

Aaron: Release all names on steroid list
Hank Aaron wants the list of players who tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs in 2003 to be released.
In a wide-ranging interview Tuesday night with The Associated Press, the Hall of Famer said releasing the list would help Major League Baseball get past the so-called “Steroid Era.” The list was supposed to remain anonymous and is now under court seal, but big names such have continued to leak out.
“I wish for once and forever that we could come out and say we have 100 and some names, name them all and get it over and let baseball go on,” the former home run king said. “I don’t know how they keep leaking out. I just wish that they would name them all and get it over with.”
Aaron also wanted to make a few other things clear.
No, he has not spoken with commissioner Bud Selig about banned Pete Rose being reinstated in baseball. But he does think it’s time Rose, the career hits leader, be reinstated and voted into the Hall of Fame.

Rachel Alexandra returns to Saratoga
The trainer of horse racing’s biggest star says it’ll be two weeks before a decision is made on Rachel Alexandra’s next start.
The filly was back at Saratoga Race Course on Monday, a day after beating the boys a second time in the Haskell Invitational at New Jersey’s Monmouth Park.
Trainer Steve Asmussen says “we’ll see how she acts on the track. With Rachel, she is the topic of conversation all the time.”
Among the races under consideration are the Travers on Aug. 29, the Personal Ensign on Aug. 30 and the Woodward on Sept. 5. All are at Saratoga.
