HANOVER TWP. – The Luzerne County Drug Task Force in conjunction with township police arrested two men from Wilkes-Barre on drug-related charges on Tuesday.
Police said Billy P. Rogowski Jr., 21, of Bowman Street, and Jared L. Beretsky, 27, of Waller Street, were both arrested following an investigation into a heroin operation on Oxford Street in the township’s Lee Park section.
Rogowski was charged with delivery of a non-controlled substance, purported to be a controlled substance, heroin, police said.
He was also charged with possession with the intent to deliver, possession of a non-controlled substance, theft by deception, possession of a small amount of marijuana and two counts of resisting arrest.
Beretsky was charged with criminal conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance, heroin.
Both men were taken to Luzerne County Correctional Facility to await arraignment this morning by a district magistrate.
Wilkes-Barre police and Ashley Borough police assisted township police.
HUNTINGTON TWP. – State police at Shickshinny are investigating an attempted burglary of a home on Thorne Hill Road on Sunday.
Police said the female homeowner heard her doorbell ring at about 7 p.m., and heard a noise in another room. When she checked on the noise, she observed two men attempting to crawl through an open window.
Police said the two men sped away in a dark-colored pickup truck, possibly a Dodge, with the word “Sport” printed on the rear fender.
Anyone with information about the vehicle is asked to contact Trooper John Blaski at 542-4117.
BUTLER TWP. – Police said a window was smashed at a residence on East Foothills Drive at about 8:30 p.m. Saturday. A woman was sitting near the window when it was smashed, police said.
HAZLE TWP. – State police at Hazleton said they cited a 16-year-old male from Hazle Township for throwing a pack of cigarettes out a vehicle’s window on Airport Road on Sunday.
