Carolyn A. Petrus, 59, beloved daughter of Joseph and Katherine Roman Petrus, died Sunday, August 30, 2009, at her home in Port Matilda, Pa.
She is survived by both parents and a brother, Richard, Scottsdale, Ariz.
She was a 1967 summa cum laude graduate of Wyoming Area High School and a 1971 graduate of Wilkes College, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics. Carolyn then pursued a Masters of Geology and Environmental Sciences degree from Pennsylvania State University.
She was a licensed member of the Pa. Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists and worked for 25 years as a geologist in Pennsylvania.
Carolyn enjoyed traveling to Eastern Europe to learn and collect ethnic costumes and pagan symbolism in fabrics. She had a passion for Americana antiques, specializing in antique quilts and primitive furniture.
Carolyn was loved and deeply appreciated by those who knew her, and she will be greatly missed.

Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral Mass to be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at the Good Shepherd Church, 867 Greys Woods Blvd., Port Matilda, Pa. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
Donations may be made to Ovarian Cancer Society or the SPCA.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Gubbiotti Funeral Home, 1030 Wyoming Ave., Exeter.
