There are pampered pets and then there are pampered pets. You may think that purchasing a rhinestone collar for your beloved pooch is spoiling it. But that’s small potatoes when you start looking into the pet fashion industry. In fact, that makes you an amateur. If you think pet shows can be humorous (see Christopher Guest’s “Best in Show”), start searching for all the things you can buy your pet including hand-sewn clothing, warm-up suits (warming up for what I’m not sure), boots for your dog, wedding gowns, tiaras and so very much more.
Some people like to dress up their dogs for photo opportunities or for Halloween. Some owners like to purchase sweaters to keep their small breeds warm. None of this seems very taboo. But what about purchasing a designer jacket for a few hundred bucks or perhaps a pair of boxers complete with a bow tie, ala Chippendale style? I kid you not. After checking out the designers’ sites, some specific to pets and some names you may recognize for you just might be wearing the designer’s jeans, I have seen it all. Top designers are realizing just how much people obsess over their extended family and wouldn’t have their dog caught dead in anything generic. I suppose if you have the money, you’ll find creative ways to spend it. Sending that dough to the SPCA might be a better option, but hey, that’s just my opinion.
Margoff (margoff.com), Haute Couture for Pets out of Buenos Aires, Argentina, has styles you would actually like transformed into clothes for yourself. Broken down into jackets, soiree, wool, raincoat, polar fleece, accessories, and shearling coats, Margoff’s lines are high-end and set pets above the rest. Your pet would definitely be envied by all the other mutts.
Idawg (idawgclothing.com), has items designed for the bigger dog which often gets forgotten about when dealing with designer clothes for dogs. With all the frou-frou pet clothing items, larger dogs often get fashionably neglected. Idawg is here to assist. Stylish jackets for American bulldogs and Labradors is a click away. It’s also a dip into your wallet, but that’s the price to pay for fancy pet clothes.
Sexy Beast, “Canine Style Unleashed” defines the epitome of pet distinction. You may have heard of pet oils, designed for dogs with sensitive skin such as bulldogs. But have you heard of pet perfume? Yes, you can purchase fragrance for your canine. Sexy Beast makes a limited edition fragrance designed with a sequin ordained bottled. It also has its traditional scent. You can find both on sexybeaststyle.com. You’ll also find shampoo and conditioner, powder and gloss to keep your pet’s coat’s ultra shiny.
For nontraditional pet clothes, such as tuxedos, velvet jackets, and white faux leather biker jackets, check out wigglespets.com. Most of these clothes are for small dogs and although they don’t look comfortable overall for your pet, this might be a good place to search for special occasion clothes. You know, like your pet’s first formal.
If high dollar items are your thing and your pet is your life, you can have your “child” dressed in high end fashion from its head to it’s paws, literally. Snap a picture quickly however because chances are your dog won’t want to wear some of the items for too long, especially the wigs. Yeah, you can check those out on your own.
