DALLAS – Sam Helmstetter scored the match’s only goal with 3:21 left in the second overtime off a pass from Kim Suchoski as Misericordia defeated Lebanon Valley, 1-0 on Tuesday in a Freedom Conference women’s soccer game at Mangelsdorf Field.
Helmstetter, a freshman striker, dribbled around the keeper and slid the ball into the open net
Wilkes 2, Marywood 0
Wilkes University got a pair of early second half goals within a 27-second period to defeat Marywood.
Jenna Sargent and Julissa Reed each scored for the Colonels, while Reed also had an assist.
SUNY-Farmingdale 5, King’s 0
Jamie Smith scored two goals to lead SUNY-Farmingdale.
Farmingdale outshot King’s 26-5 while the Lady Monarchs had a 3-2 edge in corner kicks. King’s starting keeper Rachael Donatiell made four saves while Melissa D’Aniello added one save in relief.
Field Hockey
Wilkes 5, Scranton 2
The Colonels netted four goals in the second half en route to the victory paced by Jennifer Keegan who had two goals.
Amanda Peters, Trisha Kapes and Jenna DiSabatino also found the back of the cage for Wilkes.
Misericordia 1, Gwynedd-Mercy 0
Camilla Hansen scored the lone goal of the game as the Cougars won the nonconference contest. Keeper Grace Riker earned the victory in her first collegiate start.
King’s 2, Ramapo 1
Heather Kozimor scored the game-winner with 17:09 left in the second half as the Monarchs rallied after trailing 1-0.
Danielle Terracciano also netted a tally for King’s.
Women’s Tennis
King’s 7, Marywood 2
The doubles teams of Diana Darby and Jillian Tallarico, and Lauren Breen and Christy Rossowski won close matches to help the Monarchs.
In singles, Tallarico and Courtnay Wilson were victorious at one and two singles, respectively.
Misericordia 7, Cabrini 2
Abby Searfoss and Courtney Otto were double-winners for the Cougars, who won their first match against Cabrini in school history.
Women’s Volleyball
King’s 3, Cedar Crest 0
The Monarchs won by scores of 25-14, 25-10, 25-16 as Danielle Belfanti netted 11 points, five aces, and 10 digs, including the 1,500th of her career.
Misericordia 3, Arcadia 0
The Cougars earned the sweep winning 25-23, 25-18, 25-17 in their season-opener.
Lisa Holdsworth and Cailin McCullion led the attack with nine and eight kills, respectively.
Men’s Soccer
Dickinson 3, Misericordia 1
The Cougars led 1-0 at halftime on a tally by freshman Andy Bush off a corner kick 30 minutes into the game.
Dickinson scored three unanswered goals to notch the win.
