George J. Sabol, of Wilkes-Barre, entered into Eternal Rest on Tuesday, September 1, 2009.
He was born April 21, 1929 in Wilkes-Barre, a son of the late John and Barbara Polacheck Sabol. He was a graduate of Coughlin High School.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War as a corporal in Hokkaido, Japan. He was employed by the Wilkes-Barre Wholesale Service Inc. for many years.
He was a member of the Parish Community of North Wilkes-Barre.
George enjoyed several outdoor sports including snowmobiling, hunting, fishing and boating.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph, John and Albert; his sister, Helen; and his beloved partner, Jean Hudich.
Surviving are his nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews.

Family and friends are welcome to attend a memorial service with a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at 9:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 607 N. Main St., Wilkes-Barre.
Interment with military honors will follow in Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Parish Cemetery, Dallas. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Simon S. Russin Funeral Home, Plains Township.
