Joseph W. Jeckell, 84, who resided in Mountain Top, passed from this world on Tuesday, September 1, 2009, at the Hospice Care Unit of Scranton CMC.
Born in Ashley, he was a son of the late Peter and Mary (McGuire) Jeckell.
Joseph was a veteran of World War II as a U.S. Army Sergeant and was very supportive of many U.S. Armed Forces Veterans Organizations. He was a retired U.S. Postal Worker, having worked in the Wilkes-Barre Post Office.
His loving wife of 58 years, Ethel (Davis) Jeckell, passed from this world on June 13, 2009.
He is survived by his daughter, Joann Wenzel and her husband, Francis, Jermyn; his sister, Mary Lipeaka, Phoenix, Ariz.; his six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. at the McCune Funeral Home, 80 S. Mountain Blvd., Mountain Top. Interment will follow in Albert Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
