Lawrence W. Moran Jr., 47, of Avoca, passed away suddenly on Thursday, September 3, 2009.
Born September 26, 1961, Larry was a son of the late Lawrence and Helen (Doran) Moran.
Lawrence was a member of St. Mary’s Church, Avoca, he attended St. Mary’s School, Avoca, and was a 1979 graduate of Pittston Area High School. Larry was previously employed by the Coca-Cola Co., Birney Beverage, Tulpehocken Water Co.
Drawn to the beauty and solitude of nature, Larry loved the outdoors. He especially enjoyed camping, fishing and travel. He was a devoted fan of the Who, the St. Louis Rams and the Philadelphia Phillies. He shared a loving and significant bond with his longtime companion, Nadine McGlynn. It is likely, however, that he will be missed most by his loyal and best friend, Dylan, his Golden Retriever. Dylan was at Larry’s side throughout most of his life and remained by his side even in death.
In addition to his companion Nadine, Larry is survived by his sisters, Mary Stevenson and husband, Stephen, of Avoca, and Kathleen (Moran) and husband, Rick Hynoski, of Erie, Colo.; nieces and nephews, Laura Becker and her husband, Jason; Brian Stevenson and his wife, Lisa; Mathew Stevenson, Mara and Michael Hynoski; and his great-niece Avery Becker.
Funeral services will be held Saturday with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 715 Hawthorne St., Avoca. Father Phillip Sladicka will officiate. Friends may call today from 5 to 8 p.m. at Kiesinger Funeral Services, 255 McAlpine St., Duryea. Interment will be held at a later date. Family and friends are asked to go directly to St. Mary’s Church Avoca; there will be no procession from funeral home to church.
