Andrew P. Magda, 73, of Dupont, passed away Friday, September 4, 2009 at Mercy Hospital, Scranton.
Born Oct. 1, 1935, Andrew was a son of the late Joseph and Frances (Kendrek) Magda. Andy was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Dupont, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister, a member of the Holy Name Society and a member of St. Cecilia Choir.
Andrew attended Dupont Elementary School and was a 1953 graduate of Dupont High School. He attended Lackawanna Junior Business College, and then graduated from the University of Scranton. Andrew retired after 40 years with PNC Bank.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, the former Theresa (Zuba) Magda; his daughter, Marita and husband, Louis Campbell, of Elmira, N.Y.; brother, Frank and wife, Jeanne, of Wilkes-Barre; and his sister, Lottie Jean Arway, of Pittston; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Josephine Wytowich and Mary Cimino; and brothers, John, Joseph, Edward, and Stanley.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Dupont. Fr. Joseph Verespy will officiate. There will be no calling hours.
