EXETER – Exeter Panthers Car Wash will take place at Dileos on Wyoming Avenue between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. today. Donation is $5. No rain date.
DURYEA – Representatives from the Reading and Northern Railroad and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation will be attending this month’s council meeting to discuss the closing of the New Street railroad crossing.
The railroad company thinks the grade crossing poses serious safety issues.
The contour of the railroad is extremely unsafe due to the severe drop off on the north side, the company says, and the sight distances for vehicles to see trains approaching are poor on both approaches.
The meeting will be Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in the municipal building. Residents are invited to attend.
DURYEA – The Duryea Borough Street Department will be closed Mondayin observance of Labor Day. Garbage will be collected one day late. Yard waste will be collected on Friday as usual.
HUGHESTOWN – Newspapers will not be collected on Monday, due to the holiday.
KINGSTON – The Wyoming Valley West School Board will hold the September board meeting for general purposes on Wednesday.
The work session will be held at 7 p.m., followed by the board meeting.
The meetings are open to the public and will be held at the middle school, Chester Street, Kingston, which is handicapped-accessible from the side of the building.
LUZERNE – Borough Council will hold its regular meeting on Sept. 9. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at the borough building at 144 Academy St. The public is invited.
Luzerne Borough offices will be closed on Monday for the Labor Day holiday. Offices will reopen Tuesday at 8 a.m.
PLYMOUTH – The Plymouth Borough Administration Office and Street Department will be closed on Monday, due to Labor Day.
Residents are reminded that there will be no recycling on Monday. Recycling will resume on Wednesday.
Recycling is on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.
