Charles Magich, of Shoemaker Street, Swoyersville, passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2009, at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born in Luzerne, he was a son of the late Sam and Lottie Fronczkiewicz Magich.
He was a member of Holy Name/ St. Mary’s Church, Swoyersville. During his high school years, he played football for the Sailors and graduated from Swoyersville High School, Class of 1949.
Charles was an Air Force Veteran of the Korean Conflict, and he also served with the Marine Reserves.
Prior to retirement, he was employed in various coal mines. He later worked for Country Kraft Kitchens and also as a security guard for the former United Penn Bank, Forty Fort.
Charles was a big Penn State, Phillies and Eagles fan; he was also an avid golfer.
He was a member of the Riunita Hall Italian Club Dart League.
The greatest joy in his life was his family, especially his granddaughters, Stephanie and Megan, who spent all of his free time. He loved attending their soccer games.
Surviving are his wife, the former Martha Nita; a son, Chuck Magich Jr., of Washington, D.C.; and a daughter, Mary Ellen, and her husband, Tom Lyons, Dallas; his two granddaughters, Stephanie and Megan; and a sister, Mary (Mala) Decker, of Hanover Township; numerous nieces nephews and cousins.

The funeral for Charles will be held on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. fro the Lehman-Gregory Funeral Home Inc., 281 Chapel St., Swoyersville, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Name/St. Mary’s Church, Swoyersville.
Interment will be held in the parish cemetery, Swoyersville. Family and friends may call at the funeral home Friday evening, from 6 to 9 p.m. A Christian Wake Service will be conducted Friday evening.
