Geordan Grieco, a Bucknell University junior, has been named the recipient of the Olive B. Barr Scholarship for the 2009-10 academic year. This is the second year Grieco has received the scholarship. The scholarship was established in 2008 with a testamentary gift from Olive B. Barr, a 1931 graduate of Bucknell, and resident of Forty Fort at the time of her death in 2001. The scholarship reflects Barr’s belief in the importance of providing an educational opportunity for students with demonstrated financial need in the liberal arts curriculum. Grieco is the son of Cathy Funk and George Grieco, both of Williamsport. He is a 2007 graduate of Williamsport High School. A management major, Grieco is a member of the Global Residential College, Bucknell Business Leaders and Bucknell Buddies, an after-school tutoring program in the local school districts. He is also involved with the Student Philanthropy Group, PFLAG and Bicycles against Poverty, and works as a student supervisor/quality control manager for Bucknell’s student calling program.
