Hanover Area School Board honors Joseph Kochuba with an engraved clock.

HANOVER TWP. – The Hanover Area School Board has honored former district business administrator and teacher Joseph Kochuba with an engraved clock in recognition of his 30 years of service.
Ann Marie Mantione accepted the clock for her father, who couldn’t attend a meeting last week.
“Thirty years ago, he was a young CPA who took a chance coming from public accounting, and the district took a chance on him,” she said.
“It was a win-win situation. He will never forget Hanover Area,” Mantione added.
The board also recognized April student of the month Robyn Gurnari. In other business, the board:
• Voted 8-0 to appoint Steven J. Harnischfeger as head basketball coach for the 2010-2011 school year at a compensation of $5,706.
• Voted to 8-0 to appoint Brian McDermott as head golf coach for the 2010-2011 school year at a compensation of $2,600.
• Voted 8-0 to approve Lisa Kitchen as the Right to Know officer at a stipend of $4,000, effective March 25, 2010.
• Approved the following substitute teachers for the 2009-2010 school year: Katona Lyn Miller, Earth & Space Science and General Science and Environmental Science, grades 6-12; and Jaclyn Slusher, Art, grades K-12.
• Accepted letters of intent to retire in June from Joseph Baranoski, music teacher, and Marie Guesto, English teacher.
• Bids for services to install a closed-circuit television system in the high school will be opened in the business office on June 7 at 10 a.m.
The board announced the following upcoming meetings: A budget meeting will be held on May 13 at 6 p.m., the school board work session will be held on June 7 at 6:30 p.m. and the regular meeting will be held on June 10 at 7 p.m.
Board President Anthony Gagliardi was absent.
