Mary A. Pries, 85, of Kingston, passed away Thursday, February 10, 2011, at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born in Kingston on November 3, 1925, she was the oldest of 12 children born to parents, the late Bernard S. Klein and Myrtle Case Klein. Her husband, Richard J. Pries, died in 1956.
She was a 1943 graduate of Kingston High School and a graduate of the class of 1947 St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing, Trenton, N.J.
After retiring, she participated in the Volunteers in Literacy Program at the Hoyt Library and, most recently, volunteered by crocheting lap robes for residents at the Meadows Manor Skilled Nursing Facility.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sisters, Patricia Feher, Sally Yatsko, Vera Neal and Ann Klein; and a brother, Tony Klein.
Mary is survived by her five children; sons, Jerri, Pepperell, Mass.; Rich, Kingston; and Bob, Port St. Lucie, Fla.; daughters, Pam Thomas, Kingston, and Judy Kuzemka, Cranberry Township, Pa.; sisters, Jane Evans, Wyoming; Jean Swank, New Braunfels, Texas; and Sandy Klein, Kingston, with whom she resided; brothers, Bernard Klein, Ann Arbor, Mich.; Pete Klein, Dallas; and Frank Klein, Durango, Colo.; as well as 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be private and at the convenience of the family. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Hugh B. Hughes & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1044 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort.
