WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Jasmine Thomas scored 17 points, Krystal Thomas had 12 points and 12 rebounds, and No. 5 Duke routed Wake Forest 82-39 on Friday night.
Allison Vernerey added 12 points for the Blue Devils (22-2, 8-1 Atlantic Coast Conference).
They bounced back from a loss to one instate rival by overpowering another. Duke never trailed, held a 52-31 rebounding advantage and outscored the Demon Deacons 46-14 in the paint in beating them for the 34th straight time.
Wake Forest (12-14, 3-7) scored just 13 points during the final 17 1/2 minutes and was held to a season-low point total. It lost for the seventh time in 10 outings and hasn’t beaten Duke since the 1993 ACC tournament.
Chelsea Gray finished with 10 points for Duke, which held the Demon Deacons scoreless for nearly seven minutes in the second half while scoring 12 straight points during a 31-5 run that made it a 40-point game.
Chelsea Douglas scored 11 points for Wake Forest, which hasn’t beaten Duke in Winston-Salem since 1991.
No. 19 Florida St. 73, Georgia Tech 60
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Alexa Deluzio scored 15 of her 20 points in the second half to help Florida State get the win.
Courtney Ward added 15 points, nine rebounds and five assists for the Seminoles (20-5, 8-2 Atlantic Coast Conference), who have won at least 20 games in each of the last three seasons. Cierra Bravard also scored 15 points.
Tyaunna Marshall had 18 points for Georgia Tech (18-8, 6-4), which has lost three straight.
Deluzio went 7 for 13 from the field, including 3 of 6 from 3-point range, as Florida State shot 52 percent overall.
The Seminoles grabbed control with an 11-4 surge midway through the second half. Ward and Bravard each had a three-point play and Deluzio’s 3-pointer made it 55-44 with 7:51 left.
No. 25 Marist 56, Iona 45
NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. — Corielle Yarde scored 15 points and Marist used its stifling defense to pick up a road win.
The Red Foxes allowed just 14 field goals, holding Iona to 23.7 percent shooting. They also forced 16 turnovers in their 18th consecutive victory.
Elise Caron had 13 points and six rebounds for Marist (22-2, 13-0 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference), which only shot 38.9 percent itself. Erica Allenspach finished with 12 points and four steals.
Kristina Ford had 15 points and 11 boards for Iona.
