WEST PITTSTON – A man accused by Exeter police of four home burglaries waived his right to a preliminary hearing before District Judge Joseph Carmody on Wednesday.

Shaun T. Mehal, 28, of Wyoming Avenue, Exeter, waived four counts each of burglary, receiving stolen property, theft and criminal trespass, and a single count of loitering and prowling at night to Luzerne County Court.

Police alleged Mehal forced his way inside houses on Valley Street on Dec. 30, Penn Avenue on Jan. 4, Ash Court on Jan. 17 and Memorial Street on Jan. 30, stealing jewelry, firearms, money and electronic equipment, according to the criminal complaints.

NANTICOKE – A man accused by Plymouth police of assaulting a woman and struggling with an officer waived his right to a preliminary hearing before District Judge Donald Whittaker on Tuesday.

Alberto Rodriguez Vasquez, 44, of West Shawnee Avenue, Plymouth, waived charges of simple assault, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and harassment to Luzerne County Court.

Police allege Vasquez assaulted a girlfriend during an argument and struggled with an officer when he was arrested on Jan. 18, according to the criminal complaint.

HANOVER TWP. – A man accused of assaulting a mentally challenged person with a pillow inside an assisted living center waived his right to a preliminary hearing before District Judge Joseph Halesey on Tuesday.

Marcus A. Harrison, 34, of Scranton, waived charges of simple assault, harassment and neglect of care to a dependant person to Luzerne County Court.

Police alleged Harrison, an employee of The Institute for Human Resources and Services working as an aide at a home on Boland Avenue, struck a mentally challenged man in the head with a pillow on Nov. 1. Police said the alleged assault was posted on Harrison’s Facebook page, according to the criminal complaint.
