Elizabeth “Betty” LaNunziata, 95, of West Pittston, passed away Saturday, February 5, 2011, in Bakersfield, Calif.
Born in Pittston January 23, 1916, she was a daughter of the late Alfredo and Giuditta Tosi and stepdaughter of Joseph Liberati.
She was a member of Corpus Christi Parish/Immaculate Conception Church, West Pittston. She was a member of the I.L.G.W.U. and a member of the former Ladies Auxiliary of the Goodwill Hose Co., West Pittston, for many years.
Betty was associated with Crest Cleaners, West Pittston, along with her son and grandson.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her husband, Michael; and son James (Bear); brothers, Anthony Tosi and Joseph Liberati; and sisters, Mary Scelba and Dora Liberati.
Surviving are sons, Michael LaNunziata and wife, Dolores, West Pittston, Paul LaNunziata and wife, Theresa, Dunmore, and Joseph LaNunziata and wife, Sherri, Buffton, S.C.; daughters, Judith Lynch and husband, James, Lancaster, Calif., and Caroline Butera and husband, Louis, Bakersfield, Calif.; brother, Julio Liberati, Easton, Pa.; sister, Lena Gregori, West Pittston; 22 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Monday from the Anthony Recupero Funeral Home, 406 Susquehanna Ave., West Pittston, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, with the Msgr. John Sempa officiating. Interment will be held in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
