Joseph Sims, 96, of Dallas, passed away Friday, February 11, 2011, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.

Born in Nanticoke, Joseph was a son of the late Roman and Pauline Shmegelski. He attended Hanover Area schools.

Joseph was a lifelong executive in the auto industry, formerly employed by Motor Twins and a Charter Member of Ford Leasing (Fleetco).

He resided in the Dallas area for the past 60 years.

Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were his wife, the former Mary Josephine Shook; brothers, Ben Shmegelski, Bernard Shmegelski, Stanley Zincavage, and Walter Zincavage; and sisters, Lottie Kazinski and Ceil Romanchak.

Surviving are daughter Doris Schlachter and husband, William, Cinnaminson, N.J.; son Joseph Sims Jr., Douglassville, Pa.; grandchildren, Brian Sims, Rebecca Wheeler, and William Schlachter; great-granddaughter Paige Wheeler; sister, Jule Walsh, Warminster, Pa.; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday from the Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home Inc., 140 N. Main St., Shavertown. Interment will be made in Memorial Shrine Park, Carverton. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday.
