James D. Thomas Sr., 77, of Brackney, Pa., passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at his residence. He was born in Wilkes-Barre, a son to the late Franklin and Catherine (Adamitis) Thomas.
He was preceded in death by his four brothers and three sisters.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Winifred (Garrison) Thomas, Brackney; four children and spouses, Alice and Ed Roche, Brackney; James D. Thomas Jr., Brackney; Jennifer (Thomas) Struble, Binghamton, N.Y.; and Karen and Michael Guinane, Brackney; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers; two sisters; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jim was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Korean War. He was a self-employed contractor who worked hard and provided well for his family. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
A visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Daniel K. Regan Funeral Home, Montrose, Pa., with a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Casimir Stanis of St. Augustine Church officiating. Interment will be held in the spring in St. Augustine Cemetery.
Donations in Jim’s memory can be made to the charity of one’s choice.
