Just in time for St. Patrick’s Day, the Luzerne County Historical Society Museum opens its latest exhibit “The Irish in Luzerne County,” a collection of artifacts, photographs and stories that tell of the county’s early Irish immigrants who began arriving in the 1600s. The exhibit illustrates their coal-mining heritage, their membership in the Continental army, their business acumen and ways in which they managed to survive discrimination.
