Frances G. Kitler, 88, of Birchwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Nanticoke, passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at Birchwood.

She was born October 6, 1922, in the Hanover Section of Nanticoke, a daughter to the late Peter and Frances Petkunis Grigas. Frances was a graduate of Nanticoke High School and a member of Holy Trinity Church, now St. Faustina Parish.

Frances was employed by General Cigar in both the Nanticoke and Wilkes-Barre locations.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward M., in 1988; son Edward Kitler; brothers, Peter and John Grigas; and sisters Catherine Yanick and Marion Simkonis.

Frances is presently survived by a son, Joseph Kitler, and wife Joanne, Coopersburg, Pa.; daughter Frances Ball and husband Darryl, Richboro, Pa.; sister Bertha Ruda, Sugar Notch; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A memorial Mass is scheduled for noon on Saturday for Frances and her husband, Edward M., in St. Faustina Parish, Holy Trinity Church. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Arrangements are by the Grontkowski Funeral Home P.C., 51 W. Green St., Nanticoke.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the outstanding staff at Birchwood Center, 395 Middle Road, Nanticoke; also thanks to Hospice Community Care, 610 Wyoming Ave., Kingston, for their compassionate support.

The family requests that donations in Frances’ memory be made to the above-mentioned institutions.
