NANTICOKE – A homeless man was arraigned Wednesday in Wilkes-Barre Central Court on charges he stole a cell phone and money from an apartment.
Police charged Daryl Lowyn, 40, with theft and public drunkenness. He was jailed at the county prison for lack of $10,000 bail.
Police alleged Lowyn stole a cell phone and money from an apartment in Nanticoke Towers on March 1 or March 2. He also appeared in public while intoxicated on Prospect Street on Tuesday, according to the criminal complaint.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled on March 15 before District Judge Donald Whittaker in Nanticoke.
BLOOMSBURG – State police at Bloomsburg charged Jerome Sharr, 20, of Wilkes-Barre, and David Toney, 19, of Hanover Township, with home burglaries in Columbia County.
State police alleged Sharr and Toney, who are facing a burglary charge in Monroe County at a shooting club, burglarized two houses in Benton and a house in Berwyn in December.
Sharr is also facing burglary charges in Bear Creek Township, Duryea, Hanover Township and Dallas, according to Luzerne County court records.
WILKES-BARRE – City police reported the following:
• Brenda Meehan, of McLean Street, reported Thursday someone cut wires to a security camera that is mounted on the front porch of her house.
• Alissa O’Brien, of South Meade Street, reported Wednesday someone used her credit card without her permission.
• Police said Jon Migatulski, 31, of Courtright Street, Plains Township, will be cited with harassment after Heather Kerestes, of George Avenue, alleged he made several harassing phone calls on Wednesday.
• Police said Christian Genao, 32, of Beverly Drive, Edwardsville, will be cited with harassment after Silvia Medina, of South Franklin Street, alleged he threw a basket at her on Sunday.
• Police said Robert Ratchford, 27, of North Main Street, will be cited with public drunkenness after he was allegedly found intoxicated in the area of South Main and Parrish streets at 2:52 p.m. Wednesday.
• Lynne Brensha, of Kidder Street, reported Tuesday someone stole her purse while she was at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on South Main Street. When Brensha called to cancel her credit cards she learned there were several attempts to purchase items in the Wilkes-Barre area.
• Police said Mark Jude Krebs, of Davis Place, will be cited for public drunkenness when he was allegedly found intoxicated in the area of 48 S. River St. at 7:07 p.m. Tuesday.
• Frederick Hules, 49, of North Sherman Street, reported Thursday morning that a window on his vehicle was shattered.
• Dana Shumway, 22, of Exeter, was charged with public drunkenness around 8:15 a.m. Thursday. Police said she was under the influence of an alcoholic beverage on Public Square.
• Dennis Kepler, of 155 Almond Lane, said his 2002 BMX X-5 was taken from outside his residence on Thursday afternoon. Police recovered the sport utility vehicle on South Franklin Street.
HANOVER TWP. – State police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement reported the following:
• Rap Sports, Inc., doing business as The Sports Page, 224 East Fifth Street, Hazleton, was recently cited for possessing or operating gambling devices or permitted gambling or lotteries.
