Seeking their party’s nomination are Bill Dixon, Steve Gerko and Clif Madrack.
Three Democrats have filed to run for Plymouth Borough Council.
Bill Dixon, 60, is seeking the Democratic nomination for a four-year term. He has been a resident of Plymouth for 31 years and is married to the former Janet Flynn, a lifelong borough resident. They have two children and a grand-daughter.
An Army veteran, Dixon served with the 101st Airborne and 1st Infantry in the Vietnam War and has been employed by UGI Electric Division for 24 years. He holds the position of 3rd Class Sub-Station Maintenance. He is a life member of the VFW Post 1425 Plymouth and is a member of the Plymouth Recreation Board.
Dixon has been active in youth sports organizations for 23 years and he volunteers for Rails and Trails. His goal as a councilman is to control spending, increase police presence, and promote transparency in our local government.
Steve Gerko, 69, has worked for Leslie Fay as a trim coordinator for 25 years. He did inventory control in foreign countries, purchasing, and shipping of supplies. He maintained weekly reports, oversaw and loaded containers for overseas shipment and did traffic control for domestic shipments.
Gerko graduated from Plymouth High School in 1959 and attended Wilkes College and Luzerne County Community College. In addition, Gerko was in the Army Reserves for six years as a military policeman and was honorably discharged.
Clif Madrack, 65, is a lifelong resident of Plymouth. He is an Army Vietnam veteran and a member of the VFW and American Legion for more than 40 years. Madrack has have been involved in Scouting for 55 years. He is a member of the Citizens for Home Rule for Luzerne County and a member of Plymouth Alive.
He has been involved in numerous civic projects and a strong advocate of public involvement in government. In addition, Madrack was a police officer for 10 years and Plymouth borough administrator for 8 1/2 years. Most recently he obtained 10 years experience as the director of the Luzerne County Parks Department.
Madrack said he loves the community and Plymouth, and feels the citizenry is being sold short with the current leadership.
