Jackie Gasiorek, 47, of Plains Township, passed away Thursday, March 10, 2011, at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
She was born in Peckville, on August 21, 1963, and was a daughter of the late John and Ann Gasiorek.
Jackie was a graduate of Penn State University, State College, Pa., with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. She was employed as a supervisor with the T.J. Maxx Corporation. She also served as the coordinator of the building committee of Tracy’s Hope Hospice Care and Rescue Program for Domestic Animals, Duryea.
Without Jackie’s presence, Tracy’s Hope Hospice Care and Rescue Program for Domestic Animals, located in Duryea, will not be the same. Jackie’s service to this animal rescue and hospice was so extensive that she was deemed “invaluable.”
Fiercely committed to the work of both rescuing animals and the difficult work of ensuring humane and peaceful passings for sick and dying animals, Jackie was a continuous source of inspiration to those who knew her. Jackie’s greatest passion, however, was the deep and enduring bond she shared with her animal companion, Jake. This stunning black lab accompanied Jackie on summer visits to Cape Cod and was at her side daily as her most loyal and devoted friend. The unconditional love between them was a living expression of the rare and sacred bond that can and does exist between pets and their owners.
In addition to her dog, Jake, Jackie is survived by her family at Tracy’s Hope Hospice Care and Rescue Program for Domestic Animals, Terry Knorrston, Lisa Rogers, Fr. Joseph Kearney, Marty and Denise Kumor and Daniel Chopyak.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea, with Fr. Joseph Kearney officiating. Friends may call from 12:30 p.m. until the time of memorial service Sunday. Interment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tracy’s Hope Hospice Care and Rescue Program for Domestic Animals, 113 Foote Ave., Duryea, PA 18642.
