Mary Elizabeth Francis, 76, of Wilkes-Barre, died peacefully Saturday, March 5, 2011, at home.

Born December 14, 1944, in the Island of St. Kitts, British West Indies, she was a daughter of the late Allen and Eldrina Irene Francis Sherriff Webb.

She was educated in the local schools of St. Kitts. Upon immigrating to the United States, Mary resided briefly in Houston, Texas, before moving to Wilkes-Barre. Prior to her retirement, she was employed in the housekeeping department of Citizens Bank, Wilkes-Barre.

Surviving are daughter, Shermel Francis Bellus, of Wilkes-Barre; sons, Wentworth Francis of Orange City, Fla., Troy Francis of Wilkes-Barre, and Leon Francis of Jacksonville, Fla.; sisters, Lillian Douglas, of the Virgin Islands, and Maria Brown, of Atlanta, Ga.; as well as many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews and cousins.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. today from the Hugh P. Boyle & Son Funeral Home Inc., 416 Wyoming Ave., Kingston, with Pastor Jeffery J. Kransek, of the First Baptist Church of Wyoming, officiating. Interment will be private. Friends may call from noon until time of service today.

Memorial donations, if desired, may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
