DURYEA – Police said they are investigating several home burglaries that have been reported since March 5.
One of the houses was burglarized twice.
Police said a house in the 900 block of Foote Avenue was burglarized on March 5 and March 9. Jewelry was stolen during the separate burglaries, police said.
Police said they are also investigating a burglary at a house in the 900 block of Getty Avenue on March 10.
Anyone with information about the burglaries is asked to contact Chief Nicholas Lohman at 457-1721 ext. 2.
WILKES-BARRE – City police reported the following:
• Police said Erich Chiogna, 25, of Walnut Street, Forty Fort, was cited with public intoxication after he was allegedly found under the influence of a controlled substance in the area of 89 Carey Ave. at 11:53 p.m. Thursday. Police said Chiogna was found wearing only jeans and socks and throwing himself into vehicles and walls.
• Police said they arrested Mario Nardone, 48, of Mill Street, Plains Township, on evidence of drunken driving after investigating a hit-and-run crash at Blackman Street and Hazle Avenue at 6:39 p.m. Thursday.
• A 12-year-old girl told police a man in his 20s followed her and exposed himself while yelling sexual remarks to her in the area of Courtright Street at about 1:50 p.m. Thursday. The girl was walking home from the Dan Flood Elementary School on North Washington Street.
The man is described as white, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, thin build, fair complexion, wearing blue jeans, black jacket and a black skull cap with a silver design.
HANOVER TWP. – State police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement reported the following:
• Mardandi Inc., doing business as Dan’s Keystone Grille, 162 Union St., Plains Township, was recently cited with issuing payment for purchase of malt or brewed beverages with insufficient funds.
EDWARDSVILLE – Police and agents with the state Office of Attorney General arrested Katrida Deniece Benjamin, 26, on Tuesday on charges she sold heroin.
Benjamin was arraigned on two counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and a single count of criminal use of communication facility. She was jailed at the county prison for lack of $20,000 bail.
Police said Benjamin was arrested at her residence at Church Street after an investigation of several controlled heroin buys, according to a news release.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled on March 16 before District Judge Paul Roberts in Kingston.
