The faculty at Solomon/Plains Memorial Elementary School used the milestone of the first 100 days of school to teach math, promote community service and sponsor a fundraising event for the American Cancer Society. Students were asked to donate 100 new gloves, hats and scarves to benefit needy children. Students responded by collecting, counting and separating more than 300 items that were donated to local charitable organizations. In addition, students sold daffodils and raised $1,400 to benefit cancer research.
