HSMAI Meeting
The NEPA chapter of the Hospitality Sales Marketing Association International will hold its monthly meeting at 5 p.m. on Monday, April 18 at the Hilton Scranton Conference Center, 100 Adams Ave., Scranton. Mary Jane Saras, vice president of leadership development for Creative Energy Options, Inc. and leadership educator, will present, “Don’t bring it to work — Providing Excellent Guest Services.” Cost is $35 per person or $20 for students.

WYCC Legislative Breakfast
The Wyoming County Chamber of Commerce will hold a Legislative Breakfast from 8-9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 19 at the Shadowbrook Inn & Resort, Route 6, Tunkhannock. The event includes a buffet breakfast and is free to chamber members. Cost is $15 for non-members.
The event, co-sponsored by Peoples Neighborhood Bank, will give area business owners and decision-makers the chance to have Pennsylvania legislators address their business concerns. Legislators attending the breakfast include Congressman Tom Marino, DCED Secretary Alan Walker, and State Reps. Sandra Major, Karen Boback and Sid Michaels Kavulich. The legislators will provide overviews of business-related issues on which they have been working and participate in a question-and-answer session facilitated by Alex Fried of Procter & Gamble. Attendees are asked to submit questions.

Administrative Professionals Day: Great Leaders Presentation
In recognition of Administrative Professionals Day, the Wyoming Valley Chapter of the International Association of Administrative Professionals will provide a presentation on the traits of great leaders at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27 at the East Mountain Inn, Plains Township. The event, facilitated by Sue Unvarsky, vice president of operations at Prudential, is free to the public and is open to all administrative professionals.

Penn State Executive Management Breakfast
Penn State Wilkes-Barre will be host an Executive Management Breakfast at 7:45 a.m. on Friday, May 6 at the Best Western Genetti Hotel and Conference Center, Wilkes-Barre. The Executive Management Breakfast Series is sponsored by the Penn State Wilkes-Barre Alumni Constituent Society. The cost is $15 and includes the meal and the presentation.
Keynote speaker Laurie Creasy, new media specialist at Penn State University, will examine using social media tools such as Facebook and Twitter to spread a company’s message and how companies can monitor what consumers are saying about them.

Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber: Women in Business Luncheon
The Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber will hold its monthly Women in Business Luncheon from noon-1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10 at Genetti’s, downtown Wilkes-Barre. Cost is $14.50 for WIB Council members or $16.50 for non-members.
Guest speaker for the luncheon, which is sponsored by Citizens Bank, will be Adrienne Rasmussen, of BMC Office Furniture.

The Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber will hold a Human Resources Forum at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, May 13 in the chamber conference room, 2 Public Square, Wilkes-Barre. The forum is free to chamber members and is suggested for Human Resource professionals, managers, supervisors and communicators.

The Luzerne Foundation Annual Meeting
The Luzerne Foundation will hold its Annual Meeting and Community Celebration from 5-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18 at the River Common Landing area. The annual meeting presentation begins at 6 p.m. with the unveiling of the first piece of public art, a sculpture, at the Millennium Circle Portal. At 6:30 p.m., Dr. David W. Kistler will be presented the Mary Bevevino Community Service Award and the 2011 Spring Grants to area nonprofits will be announced. The event is free and open to the public. (Guests are asked to enter via the Millennium Circle Portal between Market Street and The Luzerne County Courthouse.)
Activities include performances by Kriki and Mike Miz, jugglers, children’s games and a community picnic.
