FREELAND: MMI Preparatory School is holding its annual Open House 2-4:30 p.m. today. Student projects will be on display in the Old Main and Century II buildings and the Science Wing.

Non-food projects are open to the public 2-4 p.m. and culinary projects are open to the public 2:30-4:30 p.m. All projects have been prepared by students under the guidance of faculty advisers.

MOUNTAIN TOP: Rice Elementary School will hold kindergarten registration for the 2011-2012 school year 9 a.m.-noon and 1-3 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday.

All children entering kindergarten must be 5 years old before Sept. 1. Parents must bring the child’s birth certificate, Social Security number and proof of immunization. Children should accompany parents to registration to participate in vision, speech and hearing screenings. Parents also need to bring two documents for proof of residency, such as a recent utility bill, house deed, deposit receipt for gas, electric or phone service or an active bank account statement. If living with someone who is a resident of the district, a notarized letter of verification from the resident and two proofs of residence showing that resident’s name must be provided.

NANTICOKE: Luzerne County Community College will hold a free information night 5-7 p.m. April 28 at the college’s Business and Computer Center.

Programs represented will be Computer Information Systems, Court Reporting, Medical Office Specialist, Networking, Computer Applications, Medical Reimbursement and Coding Specialist, Office Information Technology, Computer Programming, Medical Transcriptionist and Web Development.

Participants can meet with faculty and tour the college’s Business and Computer Center. Information on enrollment procedures, tuition and financial aid will be available.

PLAINS TWP.: The Plains Parks and Recreation Board is accepting applications for summer employment. All applicants must be residents of Plains Township and students enrolled in college or graduating from high school and attending college in the fall. College applicants must submit proof of the college or university they are attending.

Applications can be picked up between 8 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Plains Township Municipal Building, 126 N. Main St. Deadline to submit applications is April 29.

WILKES-BARRE: Wilkes University will hold a Transfer Open House from 1-3 p.m. on April 21 in the ballroom of the Henry Student Center, 84 W. South St., Wilkes-Barre. Registration begins at 12:30 p.m.

Students and their families will hear presentations about financial aid, internships, residence life and career services. Campus tours will also be given. Students who bring their official transcript and supporting materials will be able to have an admission decision by the end of the day. Financial aid estimates will also be provided.
