Jackie Tang, a sixth-grade student from Heights-Murray Elementary School, Wilkes-Barre Area School District, recently finished in sixth place in the annual Times Leader/Scripps Northeast Pennsylvania Regional Spelling Bee held at The Woodlands Inn and Resort. Students from 23 schools in Northeastern Pennsylvania competed for the chance to represent the area at the national competition in Washington, D.C., in June. Jackie also out spelled 29 fifth- and sixth-grade competitors at his home school during a spelling bee held in January. Kevin Sickle is the spelling bee coordinator at Heights-Murray.
Christopher A. Brzencheck, Wilkes-Barre, was recently inducted into the Delta Mu Delta Business Administration Honor Society at Wilkes University at the annual induction ceremony dinner. The keynote speaker was Jay S. Sidhu, chairman and CEO of Customers Bank and Sidhu Advisors LLC. Brzencheck is a graduate student pursuing his master’s degree in business administration. He is the son of John and Christine Brzencheck.
