Isabelle L. Gush, 85, of Plymouth, died Saturday afternoon, April 9, 2011, in the Inpatient Unit of Hospice Community Care at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre, following an illness.

Born September 4, 1925, in Pittston, she was a daughter of the late George and Isabelle (Trusa) Gush.

Educated in the Plymouth schools, Miss Gush was a member of the 1943 graduating class of the former Plymouth High School. She furthered her education by attending nursing school at New York City Hospital, where she worked for 38 years prior to her retirement as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

Miss Gush was a member of All Saints Parish Community, and had previously attended Mass at Saint Stephen’s Roman Catholic Church, Plymouth, where she formerly served with the parish Christian Women’s club.

She also held membership in the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary 1425, and the American Legion Auxiliary 463, both of Plymouth.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, George Gush; a nephew, Leonard Bish; and a great-niece, Christine Bish.

Surviving are her sister, Mrs. Dorothy Bish, Plymouth; niece Dorothyann Lapresi, Rochester, N.Y.; nephews, George Bish, Chicago, Ill., Elmer Bish, Van Nuys, Calif., and Richard Bish, Kingston; great-nieces and nephews; godchild, Maria; and several cousins.

Her family would like to thank the doctors and staff of Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, and Hospice Community Care, as well as ManorCare of Kingston, where she recently resided, for making her final days as comfortable as possible.

Funeral services for Miss Gush will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday from the Andrew Strish Funeral Home, 11 Wilson Street, Larksville, followed by a funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. in All Saints Parish Community, 33 Willow Street, Plymouth, with the Rev. Joseph J. Adonizio officiating. Interment will follow in Saint Stephen’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Lehman Township. Relatives and friends may join her family for visitation and remembrances from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
