ROARING BROOK TWP. – State police said a man from Toms River, N.J., was killed early Sunday morning in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 380 northbound in Lackawanna County.

State police said Nicholas Ferrante, 20, who was wearing a seat belt, was ejected from his vehicle after it traveled off the left shoulder of the highway and struck a median, causing the vehicle to roll over several times at 3:44 a.m.

Ferrante was taken by ambulance to Community Medical Center in Moscow, but later died from multiple traumatic injuries suffered in the crash, state police said.

State police said they are investigating whether speed or alcohol played a role in the crash, and are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or has any information about it to contact state police in Dunmore at 963-3516.

WILKES-BARRE – Caitlyn Cashi, of Shickshinny, reported to police that someone kicked the passenger-side front door of her vehicle Saturday, causing damage while it was parked in the Park and Lock South parking garage, 52 S. Main St.

• Police said they filed harassment charges against Amy Capinas, of South Franklin Street, after a reported fight between juveniles at 557 S. Franklin St. at approximately 4:30 p.m. Sunday. Police said Capinas became involved in a fight between several children and allegedly pushed a female juvenile.

• Police cited Ramon J. Perez, 24, address listed as homeless according to police, on public drunkenness charges Sunday after he was found allegedly intoxicated and arguing with security staff at Los Banderos, 41 E. Northampton St. at 3:25 a.m. He was arrested, taken to police headquarters and held until sober, police said.

• Police cited Michael Kane, 31, last known address South Main Street, on criminal mischief charges Sunday. According to police, Erica Tosh, of South Main Street, said Kane, her former boyfriend, smashed her cell phone, pulled a mirror down and broke a lamp during an argument at 863 S. Main St. at 1:55 a.m. Sunday.

• Police said they cited Andrew Picatagi, 21, of Brick, N.J., on public drunkenness charges and Kyle Rountree, 20, of West Ross Street, on underage drinking and public drunkenness charges at 2:11 a.m. Friday. Police said an officer found the two in an allegedly highly intoxicated state on Ross Street. They were released to the custody of a sober adult, police said.

• Police cited Drew Gommer, 48, of 823 Summit St., on public drunkenness charges Saturday. Police said they observed Gommer allegedly highly intoxicated and screaming at a female at the corner of South Main Street and Academy Street at 11:24 p.m. He was held until sober and released, police said.

WEST HAZLETON – State police arrested Patrick Clark, 47, of Hazleton, on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol at 2:41 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of North Broad Street and West Broad Street.

State police said Clark was stopped for a traffic violation and appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.

HANOVER TWP. – Police arrested Joseph Maille, of Sweet Valley, on charges of recklessly endangering another person and carrying a loaded weapon in a vehicle early Sunday.

At approximately 2:51 a.m., police said they responded to a report of a man pointing a shotgun at another vehicle at McDonald’s, 746 San Souci Parkway. Police said Maille fled the scene in a vehicle as they arrived but was soon stopped by police, who found a loaded shotgun on the passenger-side floor.

Maille was taken to the county prison for overnight arraignment. Police request anyone with information about this incident to contact them at 825-1254.

• Police said they cited Gina Campbell and John Reilly, of Wilkes-Barre, on trespassing charges after they were allegedly found on Salvation Army property off the San Souci Parkway after posted hours Sunday.

• Joseph Wentz, of South Street, and Tyler Werts, of Nanticoke, reported Sunday they were assaulted in the parking lot of Austie’s Restaurant, San Souci Parkway. Wentz and Werts said they were attacked by four men unknown to them, who fled prior to police arrival, police said. Wentz and Werts were transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment, police said.

FREELAND – State police cited Lawrence Alexander Jancewicz, 25, of Freeland, on public drunkenness charges Saturday in front of the Freeland Borough Office, 801Centre St.

At approximately 9:10 p.m., police said, Jancewicz flagged down a passer-by and said he wanted to speak with state police. State police said Jancewicz had no emergency to report and appeared to be intoxicated. He was taken home by a relative, state police said.
