WILKES-BARRE – A Glen Lyon man pleaded guilty Monday and was sentenced on a burglary charge stemming from the theft of a pellet gun from a Huntington Mills residence in September.
Theodore Macijczak, 30, of West Newport Street, entered the plea to a count of burglary and was sentenced to 12 months probation by Luzerne County Judge David Lupas.
According to court papers, on Sept. 11, 2009, Macijczak and Christopher Jarmusik entered the Brittney Lane home, vandalized the property and removed a pellet gun, police said.
Jarmusik, of Nanticoke, pleaded guilty to related charges in December and is awaiting sentencing in county court.
WILKES-BARRE – A Pittston man charged with leading police on a chase in West Pittston in July pleaded guilty to related charges Monday.
George Charles Tonte, 21, of Columbus Avenue, entered the plea to charges including simple assault and reckless endangerment, before Luzerne County Judge Joseph Van Jura.
No sentencing date has yet been set, as Tonte is awaiting trial on four other unrelated cases.
According to court papers, on July 30, Tonte was involved in a high-speed pursuit with police, causing two accidents and injuring an officer.
Police said Tonte’s vehicle crashed into a cruiser and that Tonte fled on foot. Pittston Township Assistant Chief Leonard Trotta was injured after falling during a foot chase.
SWOYERSVILLE — A man accused by Larksville police of drunken driving in January waived his right to a preliminary hearing before District Judge David Barilla on Monday.
Sulaiman Ismail, 38, of Kingston, waived a single count of driving under the influence to Luzerne County Court.
Police withdrew a second count of driving under the influence and two traffic offenses against Ismail.
According to the criminal complaint:
Police said they stopped Ismail for driving a vehicle without headlights and not using a turn signal on East Main Street on Jan. 17.
Ismail showed signs of intoxication and was taken to Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, where a blood test allegedly showed a level of .188 percent, according to the complaint.
