NEWPORT TWP. – Tax Collector Ken Angradi said the discount period for the county/municipal taxes expires Thursday. Property owners with escrow accounts should forward their bills to their financial institution for payment.

Anyone with questions should contact Angradi at 736-6319. Payments can be made by cash, check or money order in person or by mail. Property owners are reminded when making payment by mail or in person that the entire bill must be presented or sent if a stamped receipt is requested.

For payment by mail, enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope if a receipt is requested. Office hours, which are different than listed on the bills, are: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Wednesdays, 2 to 6 p.m., at 50 Coal St,. Glen Lyon. Shut-ins, handicapped individuals or anyone desiring a home collection should call for an appointment.

WILKES-BARRE — Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania’s 2011 Gallery of Hope is on display at the Osterhout Library Central Branch on South Franklin Street through Thursday.

The Gallery of Hope is a collection of photographs and personal stories of area breast cancer survivors. The traveling display is meant to raise awareness of breast cancer and promote personal accountability for one’s health by having recommended screenings such as mammograms and making healthier choices by eating right, exercising and understanding health risks.

Luzerne County honoree Judy Ragukas will be present on Thursday at 9 a.m.

KINGSTON — Applications for various summer positions at the Kingston Municipal Pool are being accepted by the Kingston Pool Authority. Positions sought are pool manager, lifeguards, snack bar attendants and for maintenance. Applications can be obtained at the Kingston Municipal Building. The pool season runs June 11 to Aug. 20.
