The RailRiders won their home opener on Thursday night, 7-2 over the Syracuse Chiefs using a four-run sixth inning en route to the victory.

RailRiders at the plate: Corban Joseph hit a two-run double in the sixth, highlighting the four-run frame. Adonis Garcia belted the first RailRiders home run of the season, a two-run shot in the eighth.

RailRiders on the mound: Graham Stoneburner started and pitched five innings allowing two runs on four hits, while striking out five. Danny Burawa relieved Stoneburner and pitched a pair of scoreless innings with four Ks to pick up the win. Mark Montgomery took over for Burawa in the eighth and threw the final two innings without allowing a run for his first save of the season.

Riding the rails: Starting pitcher Graham Stoneburner was activated from Staten Island prior to the game, while catcher Jose Gil was moved to Staten Island. … RailRiders shortstop Zelous Wheeler left the game in the top of the second with an apparent injury and was replaced by Carmen Angelini. … The winner of the media bobblehead contest was announced as WNEP personality Sharla McBride won the fan vote. … There were no fireworks held after the game due to high winds and a burn ban.
