HAZLETON: The Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce reminds businesses and the public that sponsorships are available for the Hometown Heroes Banner Program for spring of 2014.

The individual banners will be unique and honor a specific greater Hazleton area soldier, including their picture, branch of service, era of service and hometown. The banners will be erected on the new street lights in the city of Hazleton.

Banners will be sold on a first come, first serve basis and cost $200 per banner. The cost also includes a listing in the Hometown Heroes Celebration program book and will be identified in all promotional materials. A special Hometown Heroes ceremony will take place recognizing each veteran. Date and time to be decided.

The program is non-political and non-partisan. It is a living memorial to those soldiers from the greater Hazleton area that served, or are currently serving, in our military branches.

The banners will be on display for approximately three years. They will be 30 inches by 65 inches. Family members and loved ones of veterans may purchase a banner themselves or obtain a sponsorship by a local business. The Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce is not responsible for finding sponsorships for banners purchased by individuals, family members or loved ones. Should a family wish to purchase a banner, the family name will appear on the banner in place of the business. In addition, businesses may sponsor a banner for a particular veteran or veterans by contacting the Chamber.

To participate in the Hometown Hero Banner Project, contact the Chamber at 570-455-1509 or [email protected]. Application forms are also available on the Chamber’s website at hazletonchamber.org. Deadline to submit sponsorships and payments is March 31.
