WILKES-BARRE — A city woman was placed on probation for a year after pleading guilty to prostitution-related charges after an encounter with an undercover state trooper in a hotel room earlier this year.
Stacey Lynn Bradshaw, 27, of 250 Bowman St., entered her plea Monday before Luzerne County Judge Joseph Sklarosky Jr.
Bradshaw was arrested by state police in February as part of an undercover sting operation involving suspected prostitutes. Court documents indicate she was also known as “Angie,” and carried a Florida driver’s license.
According to a police affidavit, an undercover trooper called a Texas-based cellphone number on Feb. 21 and was told by a woman who answered the phone that it would cost $200 for “a rose donation and a cab fare to get to the hotel room.”
After a series of back-and-forth calls, the trooper asked if he should pick up condoms, and the female said yes. The trooper later called back to report that he had the condoms and the money.
At about 6:20 p.m., police said, Bradshaw arrived at a Plains Township hotel room and was greeted by the undercover trooper, police said. After making small talk, he asked Bradshaw if she wanted the money.
She responded she would feel more comfortable if the trooper would “just show her what God gave him … and not her.” He then gave the signal to arrest Bradshaw.
Bradshaw pleaded guilty to one charge of patronizing prostitutes and one count of promoting prostitution, both misdemeanors. She was sentenced to 12 months of probation for each count, to be served concurrently.
She also must serve 15 hours of community service and seek and maintain employment.
Sklarosky also prohibited Bradshaw from making posts for escort services on backpage.com, an online classified bulletin board, or on any other Internet site or newspaper.
