Brieann Elizabeth Bolton earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Elmira College on June 2, 2013. Bolton, the daughter of Donald and Lisa Bolton, Trucksville, is a 2009 graduate of Dallas High School. While attending college, Bolton held the office of secretary for the “Lucky Class of 2013.” She also received The Alumnae Ring, a prestigious award presented to a female member of the graduating class who demonstrated leadership and service to fellow students. Bolton resides in North Carolina and is a first-grade teacher at the Harvey R. Newlin Elementary School.

Makaela Miller, Luzerne County, was among more than 600 4-H members from across Pennsylvania who took part in the annual 4-H State Achievement Days at Penn State’s University Park campus in August. Pennsylvania 4-H’ers participated in various contests and activities, including horse judging, leadership development, shooting sports and a robotics science symposium. Some of the 4-H members qualified to attend national competitions. Miller is a member of Tall in the Saddle 4-H Club, under the leadership of Bernadette Trzesniowski and Tammy Young. She participated in the Presentation Contest with her presentation titled “Finding Your 1st Horse.” Miller received a Blue Merit earning the opportunity to participate in the Presentation Contest at Quarter Horse Congress in October in Columbus, Ohio.
