(AP) If Juan Pablo Montoya returns to IndyCar next year, he’ll be greeted warmly by the drivers he’ll have to beat.

Michael Andretti is looking for sponsors for an IndyCar ride for Montoya, who isn’t returning to Chip Ganassi’s NASCAR team next year.

Dario Franchitti and Scott Dixon drive for Ganassi in IndyCar, and they would both love to see their longtime teammate back in open-wheel racing after seven years in NASCAR.

Franchitti teams with Montoya at the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona. He says it would be “nice to see him with a smile on his face.”

Ryan Hunter-Reay would be Montoya’s teammate at Andretti Motorsport. He calls Montoya “one of the top talents in the world.”

Dixon says IndyCar would welcome Montoya with open arms.
