Personal: Is married to John Bielen. Has two sons, David and Gregg, and
four grandchildren. Enjoys reading, doing crossword puzzles, cooking and
entering cooking contests.
Occupation: Retired in 1993 from Meridian Bank, McAdoo, where she worked as
a teller for about 12 years.
Past: Born at Green Mountain, near Sheppton, East Union Township,
Schuylkill County. Graduated from McAdoo High School in 1946. Worked in sales
at various stores in Hazleton. Was a Tupperware and Rubbermaid demonstrator
for more than 18 years. Began volunteer work after retirement. Former
secretary of the Polonaise Society in Hazleton, where she was in charge of
organizing a breakfast after the Memorial Mass held for deceased members last
May. Worked with her husband taking orders and delivering daffodils in the
McAdoo area for the American Cancer Society’s Daffodil Day sales in the
spring.
Present: Member of St. Kunegundas Roman Catholic Church in McAdoo, where
she is a lector and a choir member. Volunteer for the American Cancer Society,
working as a telephone operator for Cancer Telethons. Polonaise Committee
Chairperson for the Swieconka Dinner (blessing of the Easter Foods) that is
held each year in April. Pastoral Outreach volunteer, visiting patients in
hospitals and nursing homes. Goes to see the homebound who are sick and
lonely. Hazleton Art League member.
