January 18, 2000 ister Mary Genesia, 87, of the Bernadine Sisters, Third
Order of St. Francis, died Jan. 18 in St. Joseph Villa, Mount Alvernia,
Reading. Born in Kingston, she was a daughter of the late Ignatius and Anne
(Peciukonis) Woytanis. She entered the Order of St. Francis on Sept. 1, 1928.
She worked as a teacher for 56 years in Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New York,
New Jersey, Texas, South Dakota and Michigan. She was preceded in death by her
brothers, Joseph and Stanley Kupstas, and Aloysius, Edward and Frank Woytanis;
and sisters, Stephanie Romanofski, Jean McKeown and Catherine Caulfield.
Surviving are her sisters, Josephine Dubroski, Kenilworth, N.J.; and Cassie
Kaleta, Bunker Hill, Kingston Township; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass
of Christian Burial was celebrated on Jan. 21 in the Bernadine Sisters Chapel.
Interment was in the convent cemetery, Mount Alvernia. Arrangements were by
the Kopicki-Bradley Funeral Home, Reading.
