January 22, 2000 illiam J. Mislan, 71, of Exeter, died Saturday at his home.
Born in Exeter, he was a son of Helen (Smutko) Mislan, Exeter, and the late
Joseph Mislan. He worked as a captain for the Washington, D.C. Fire
Department, and taught firemen’s training classes. He was a former Exeter fire
chief. He was a member of St. Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Pittston,
the Exeter Hose Company No. 1, Exeter Park Hose Company and Wyoming Hose
Company No. 1, and the Naval Reserves, Kingston. He was preceded in death by
his brother, Jerome. Surviving in addition to his mother is his brother,
Thomas, Virginia Beach, Va. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday
from the Frank A. Gubbiotti Funeral Home, Exeter, with Divine Liturgy at 10
a.m. in St. Michael’s Church. Interment will be in St. John’s Slovak Cemetery,
Exeter. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
