The 13th Annual Fine Arts Fiesta Poster and Program Cover Contest is now open
to all students in grades third through 12th within Luzerne County. “Fiesta
2000” is the theme for the 2000 Fiesta and will serve as the theme for the
contest.
   
An original piece of student art to serve as the poster and program cover
for the Public Square event. A continuing feature of this year’s contest is
the participation of the member libraries of the Luzerne County Library
system. Under the direction of Mary Ann Yonki, system coordinator, the public
libraries will serve as the recipients of all student entries.
    Judging will take place after the March 4 deadline and prizes will be
awarded at the Fiesta, which is scheduled to be held May 18-21.
   
First prize in the contest is $100; second prize is $50; third prize, $25;
with 10 honorable mention awards.
   
An entry must be the original work of the student. The entry must be
submitted on firm white paper or poster board. Media and materials are
optional. Regulation size is 12 inches by 8 inches.
   
Color presentations are preferred but not required; three color maximum. No
photographic materials may be used. No framed or matted entries will be
accepted. No pencil, or colored pencils. Crayon, ink, marker and paint are
acceptable.
   
Student are encouraged to use their creativity in designing the posters,
however, words should not be included. Each student may enter no more than one
piece of work.
   
On or before the deadline date, the student should submit their work to the
designated staff member of the local public library in their community.
   
Each entry should have the name of the student, grade, age, home phone
number, school, and art or classroom teacher’s name listed on the back of the
entry.
   
Entries become the property of the Fine Arts Fiesta, Inc. and will not be
returned.
