January 16, 2000 osephine P. McMinds, of Wilmington, Del., died Sunday at
Christiana Hospital, Wilmington. She was a daughter of the late John and Rose
Garrahan. She attended Sacred Heart School and graduated from Plains Memorial
High School. She was a member of St. Matthews Roman Catholic Church, Woodcrest
Del. Surviving are her husband of 52 years, Frederick J., Sr., Wilmington;
sons, Frederick J., Jr., New Castle, Del.; Christopher, Elkton, Md.;
daughters, Maureen Vansant and Patrice McMinds, both of Newark Del.; four
grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Rita Powell, Elmira, N.Y.;
Peggy Whitman, Wilkes-Barre; Nancy Harrity, Iselin, N.J.; and Colleen Welch,
Herndon Va.; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers, John
P., Mount Pocono; Edward, Wilkes-Barre; and Joseph, Plains Township; and
sisters, Mary Jo Siebenthal, Alameda, Calif.; and Rosemary, Plains Township. A
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Friday at St. Matthew’s Roman Catholic
Church, Woodcrest, Del. Interment was in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
